About Us

Chief Conservator, Greg Peters, founded Patinations in 2000 after returning to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) from Europe and the United Kingdom following the completion of a prestigious Churchill Fellowship.

With decades of specialised knowledge and expertise, Patinations is privileged to work on many of Australia’s most important collections, both private and institutional.

Patinations stands apart from many other restorers in its approach. Professionally chartered conservation principles guide the combination of centuries old woodcraft traditions, with modern and innovative conservation techniques.

Objects are closely examined to identify key attributes that will determine the most appropriate methodology and treatments. Construction materials, condition, historical significance, sentimental and cultural value are all considered, as well as the object’s intended use and future environmental conditions.

Patinations is comprehensively insured and works closely with its clients to tailor outcomes that are mutually beneficial to the integrity of the object, and the client’s needs.
